The state of health of former President of the Comoros Ahmed Abdallah Sambi continues to deteriorate. His doctor said this weekend that he is now worrying because the former president has serious complications. Everyone authorized to visit former President Sambi has appealed to the authorities' humanism as well as to their diplomacy, reporting conditions of detention unworthy of a former head of state. His doctor says he is more and more worried.

Behind the scenes, the family has admitted negotiations with an envoy of President Azali since the end of 2019 even if the official voices did not wish to speak on this point.

The investigating judge had also authorized by order on January 2, the medical evacuation of the detainee. The plane tickets of ex-president Sambi and his companion were bought in the direction of a friendly country and, a few hours before departure, the tide turned.

From now on the only destination to which we will agree to let him leave will be Saudi Arabia, announced the negotiator to the family of Sambi who opposes it. The former president is known for his close ties to Iran and Qatar, his relatives fear that care in the kingdom will be more harmful to him than the current detention.
