In Skåne, about 500 boys are in line for circumcision at the only clinic that has an agreement with the Skåne region to perform male circumcision, Capio in Lund.
The waiting period is ten months, but Capio will in the autumn increase the number of circumcision operations since the region of Skåne this summer decided to invest more money on circumcisions. However, it is uncertain if the queues will be that much shorter.
- It is difficult to say in advance how the cows are affected. We do not know how big the actual demand is. We have to wait and see, says Stefan Bremberg, chief physician for Capio Nurse Care.

- We also know that there are circumcisions in the home. There is a well-known risk of infection, ”says Stefan Bremberg, chief physician of Capio NURS.
Male circumcision is controversial in Swedish health care and is not offered by all county councils. Region Skåne and Stockholm County Council offer circumcision on non-medical grounds, however, not the Västra Götaland region.
