The upsurge in attacks against civilian populations in several provinces in recent weeks has increased the number of internally displaced persons . In the second half of February, according to official figures, 766,000 people fled their homes to seek refuge elsewhere, mostly women and children.

Today, more than two million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, according to Laurence Marchal Ilboudo, Minister in charge of Humanitarian Action. The people need shelter for housing, food for food, need to care, need sanitation. They need to strengthen the nutrition of children, especially children under the age of five , ”she said.

The emergency plan to meet the growing needs of the populations was presented to all the country's partners. Burkina Faso seeks US $ 312 million to provide emergency assistance to populations and we must act quickly, according to Metsi Makhetha, resident coordinator of the United Nations System in Burkina Faso: "The whole future of a generation is at stake in relation to education. So you see the complexity : we have to act with a multi-sectoral approach. "

With the security crisis, more than 120 health centers are closed while at least 150 others are operating. 2,410 schools are also closed, affecting 318,000 students.
