Several European airlines are now stopping or cutting flights to corona-affected countries as customer interest has cooled. The Swedish charter companies now receive many questions from troubled customers who want to know what applies before traveling.

But so far it does not seem to have affected the Swedes' summer plans. Most who book a summer vacation abroad through the major travel companies do so in January and February. This year has not been an exception, say representatives of the largest travel companies in Sweden.

"You probably feel that summer is a long way off," says Annica Smith, Marketing Manager at Apollo.

See no corona effect: "It's too early for that"

Neither do Tui's customers refrain from booking trips because of the virus.

- We can't say we see any corona effect, it's too early for that. What we see is that you call and ask questions, you wonder what applies. Most people want to get away but are worried and have little questions, says Adam Györki, press officer at Tui Sweden.

Most popular summer destinations yet spared from the virus

Another reason why summer trips are still booked may be that the most popular destinations for summer charter trips were not hit hard by the corona virus. Both Tui and Ving have seen cancellations and reduced interest in Tenerife - where several people became ill by the corona virus and a hotel was quarantined. But summer destinations in Cyprus and the Greek islands are still popular.

At the same time, concern about the corona virus is still evident in the business.

- We have seen an increase in cancellations, but above all rebookings, that one is moving forward. We still see that people book new trips, but more people also choose to add cancellation and re-booking protection as a security, ”says Fredrik Henriksson, communications and sustainability manager at Ving.
