First and last mile trips are defined as the first or last part of the journey leading to or from the nearest mass transportation, and are divided into two parts: collective and individual, the most important of which are: demand transportation, taxis and limousines, smart rental vehicles, and participation in private and public vehicle trips , Within the scope of the first and last mile, in addition to the individual automatic mobility devices, such as: "scooters, and electric bicycles", and non-motorized vehicles, such as: walking, bicycles, and individual non-motorized mobility devices.

The specialized strategy for the first and last mile depends on the foundations, the most important of which are: sustainability, encouraging joint mobility, and achieving safety for its users, by making roads and transportation systems friendly to all, and to promoting complementarity between mass transportation.
