Unconscious scooter driver with cracked helmet found by skier - ambulance helicopter on the road


A skier found an unconscious snowmobile driver at a snowmobile trail northeast of Fjätervålen in Älvdalen Municipality on Friday afternoon. The snowmobile driver should then have recovered and the skier proceeded to an emergency telephone and sounded an alarm. The mountain rescue, rescue service and an ambulance helicopter are on the way to the site.

According to police, the scooter driver has been riding on a rock and thrown by the scooter.

- We got a call at 13.33 from a helpline at Hågntjärnstugan where the skier went. The caller had found a man lying unconscious with a cracked helmet in the scooter, says Stefan Dangardt, the police spokesman.

The scooter must have complained of neck pain and was cool. According to the first information from SOS Alarm, the man also bleed from the nose and it should be windy and very cold on the spot.

- An ambulance helicopter is on its way there from Mora and a decision has been made to start mountain rescue, says Stefan Dangardt.

At 14.55 a mountain rescuer informed the police that he had arrived at the man. The ambulance helicopter lifted off at 14.27 and according to police, should have about 45 minutes to the scene.
