China Overseas.net, February 28. According to the US "World Journal", the US Department of Justice submitted a summary of the court case against the Harvard University's discrimination against Asian students against the Student Fair Admissions Organization (SFFA), asking the Federal Court of Appeal to overturn 2019 The District Court ruled in October that Harvard's admissions process did not discriminate against Asians.

One week after SFFA filed its appeal, Deputy Justice Department Eric S. Dreiband, along with three other Justice Department officials, submitted a summary of the court's letter in support of SFFA.

The summary stated that the District Court judge did not rigorously examine whether "a narrowly adjusted for a convincing interest" was used in determining racial factors in Harvard's admissions process. The abstract also supports the SFFA's allegations that Harvard was involved in "race balance" and systematically punished Asian applicants during admissions.

A Harvard spokesman declined to comment on the abstract submitted by the Justice Department. The school has repeatedly denied discrimination against Asian applicants.

Harvard will need to submit a summary of the appeal by May 14. (Liu Chenyi)
