According to a press release from the municipality of Värnamo, the rescue service now warns to go out on the ice, as it could endanger life.

- We have a very special situation and that involves great risks. There is water where it is usually dry. When the surface freezes, it becomes impossible to see how deep the water is under the ice and swirls can be formed that make the sustainability of the ice difficult to assess, writes Pär Liljekvist, deputy rescue commander in Värnamo municipality.

Now the emergency services are urging the public to take it carefully when staying in nature or in urban environments where there have been high water flows.

- Also keep in mind that there is an increased risk that trees that are loose in water-filled ground will fall and that water-poor areas will collapse, he says.
