After CSN has seen an increase in crime in relation to grant failure, in 2018 a rule change was made regarding study funding for study abroad. This has now produced a positive result at CSN.

- What they did was to reduce the amount of the amounts paid out in student funding and that meant that fraudsters and cheaters were not drawn to using student aid in the same way, says Klas Elfving, CSN press secretary.

The trend has reversed significantly, when compared with the year 2017 before the rule change took place, the number of police registered grants for tuition for study abroad has more than halved.

The so-called organized crime in relation to grant crime, in which several persons have been involved, has also decreased substantially. Something that CSN states is both thanks to the rule change and that they have developed their control work.
