A person in Uppsala has been infected during a trip in Germany. The patient sought care in Sweden for symptoms of an airway infection. That person is now receiving care.

One person in the Stockholm region was infected during a trip in Iran and is now treated in isolation at the Karolinska University Hospital's infectious clinic.

- Now we work according to our routines. The patient receives care and we carry out infection tracking to reach any persons the patient may have had contact with. It is important to emphasize that what we have now confirmed is a case of a person who has been infected outside Sweden and not here in Stockholm, says Per Follin, Infectious Disease Surveyor at Infectious Diseases Stockholm in a press release.

In total, there are now seven confirmed cases of corona in Sweden.

The public health authority now estimates that the risk of more people being discovered in Sweden infected by the new corona virus abroad is high.

- It was expected that we would receive new cases of infection in Sweden So far, all cases of covid-19 are connected to travelers, directly or indirectly through close contact with an infected person and we currently do not see any general spread of infection out in the community, says Britta Björkholm, Head of Department at the Public Health Authority in a press release.
