The senator said that the need to respect the memory of the ancestors, who “with faith in God gave us a great country”, should be spelled out in the third article of the Constitution.

According to him, "the principle of a secular state will remain in the Constitution, as provided for in its 14 and 28 articles."

“These provisions will remain unshakable,” RIA Novosti quoted Klishas as saying.

Earlier, Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on the proposal of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill to include a reference to God in the preamble of the Russian Constitution.
