Geneva Motor Show canceled due to coronavirus

Switzerland, too, is not spared from the Covid-19. While it had not identified any case so far, the country now has 15 patients. Consequence: Berne cancels all gatherings of more than 1,000 people, including the Geneva motor show which was due to start in a few days.

The organizers of the show have done everything to keep it on schedule. The manufacturers' stands were almost all ready. But the decision of the Swiss government forced the organizers to throw in the towel.

Especially since several other events in Switzerland had already been canceled in recent days. This is the case of the Haute Horlogerie trade show, which also drains several thousand people. Maintaining the Motor Show was difficult to understand in this context.

Cancel events related to United Naitons?

For the rest, sports competitions, carnivals, like that of Basel, all these meetings are suspended at least until March 15.

The question can also arise for events related to the United Nations. The Human Rights Council, which brings together several hundred people, is currently taking place in Geneva. But the Swiss Minister of Health, Alain Berset, specifies that companies with many employees are not affected, because employees move around freely and can follow hygiene recommendations .
