Abu Dhabi Police revealed a new project that relies on artificial intelligence to raise fingerprints and identify the victims and defendants at the crime scene or accident, called it the "smart witness", stressing that it saves effort, time and money, and supports the investigation process by approximately 83%.

The Department of Criminal Evidence in the Security Affairs and Ports Sector in Abu Dhabi Police presented the project during its participation in the unmanned systems exhibitions "Yumex 2020" and simulation and training "Simtex 2020", which recently concluded its activities in Abu Dhabi.

The idea of the invention is based on the principle of artificial intelligence by making a DNA that contains a known code added to the test tube during the manufacture of the tubes, where they are ready to use, or are manufactured and preserved as materials that can be added to the sample collection tubes before collection.

The (Swab) tool is used to remove bloody, sperm and salivary infections from the scene of the crime, and from the bodies of victims and suspects, to conduct confirmatory examinations in the criminal laboratory, and to identify bloody, sperm and salivary infections, which results in saving time, effort and money.

The "witness" is considered one of the important processes during the DNA fingerprint examination, as it is important in ensuring the safety of the transfer of samples from one stage to another without confusing them.

Regarding the expected results from the project, Abu Dhabi Police stated that it reduces the budget related to routine checks and human resources, in addition to reducing the time needed to obtain the results, because they appear at the accident site, and consequently reducing the possibility of sample contamination, given the low levels of handling and circulation between the accident scene and the laboratory, as well To exclude negative samples and scores directly from the scene, and to reduce logistical operations.

She pointed out that the current situation in raising fingerprints from the crime scene is based on a qualified genetic fingerprint technician entering the laboratory with the examiner, and the work period reaches three days, and the role of the witness is to ensure that the process of transferring the samples is done correctly, and that the samples were not mixed, Noting that the current deficiency is the large number of examination samples and issues and the depletion of human resources.

Drug examination

Abu Dhabi Police developed a comprehensive drug screening package, which it exhibited during its participation in the "Yumex and Simtex" exhibitions.

The packaging allows the examination of the samples of suspected drug users, and the results are obtained within a short period of time, ranging between 3 and 5 minutes, and saves approximately 65% of the costs of drug testing.

Abu Dhabi Police is the first in the region to implement this type of examination.

The comprehensive packaging for drug testing is self-efficient to know whether or not it is suitable for testing, as well as a temperature label to prevent tampering with any medium of suspects.
