Prosecutors in Västmanland sometimes choose not to submit analyzes to the National Forensic Center (NFC), which analyzes technical evidence in Sweden. After the long waiting times of recent years, they have learned that it can take too long to get answers. Waiting for trial answers that can take months is not always possible, especially when there are suspects who are in custody and the judicial process needs to be handled promptly, according to several prosecutors with whom SVT has been in contact.

- We have seen that the situation has been strained within the NFC for a long time. But the same goes for the police and the entire judiciary. This is because we have much more technical evidence and more serious crimes of violence, ”says Robert Wallén, Police Area Chief of Police.
