This follows from the document “On the Procedure for the Use of Arms and Military Equipment for the Protection of the State Border of the Russian Federation in Airspace”, approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

As noted, in the event of violation of the state border by civilian aircraft or equipped with weapons by a military transport aircraft that does not respond to signals and continues to fly deeper into the territory or to the most important objects of Russia, such a vessel is forced to land or leave the airspace of Russia.

“If the violating vessels refuse to carry out the radio commands and / or visual signals to land or refuse to obey without explanation, the weapons and military equipment on duty are used ... if there is information about the absence of passengers on board the offending vessel,” the resolution said.

According to the rules, if the plane was hijacked, the "duty forces" require such an aircraft to land. In case of refusal to fulfill this requirement and in the presence of "information about the absence of hostages on board", weapons are used to defeat him.

It is emphasized that airplanes or helicopters of “on-duty forces” use weapons after “a warning clearly expressed in relation to the crew of the intruder that they intend to use these weapons” by sending signals and warning shots

The document with the new rules for the use of weapons when guarding the border in airspace is published on the Internet portal of legal information.

In the fall of 2018, the calculations of the air defense systems of Russia and the CIS countries carried out about 100 launches on targets as part of the training.

As stated in the Russian Ministry of Defense, as part of the exercises, combat aircraft also flew more than 100 times to force landing and prevent theft of aircraft.
