A 60-year-old Frenchman contaminated by the new coronavirus appeared in China died on the night of Tuesday 25 to Wednesday 26 February at the Parisian hospital of La Pitié-Salpêtrière, announced on Wednesday the Director General of Health, Jérôme Salomon.

The victim is one of three new cases identified in France on Wednesday, where the death toll now stands at 17 people infected and two deaths.

The other two new cases concern a 55-year-old man in Amiens, who is in serious condition, and a 36-year-old man in Strasbourg, returned from Lombardy, whose situation is not considered serious, said Jérôme Salomon.
