They saved a couple of octogenarians from his burning house. Three teenagers from Villegats, in Charente, should receive "a medal of honor for an act of courage and dedication". Christophe Castaner, Minister of the Interior, said that he had asked the prefecture of Charente "to constitute a file" in this sense.

A nice story. But above all, a lesson in courage.
Tribute to these young Charentais heroes.
I asked the services of @ Prefet16 to put together a file to give them a medal of honor for an act of courage and dedication.https: //t.co/Azorm2R6gJ

The events took place during the night of Monday to Tuesday. It was almost 2 am when the barn and the couple's house caught fire, according to La Charente Libre . The teenagers, who were taking part in a birthday party in the Villegats village hall, located not far from the retirement residence, entered the apartment house in a flame, without waiting for help to arrive. The three "Charentais heroes" managed to save the octogenarian and her paralyzed husband who was upstairs.

Neither the young people, nor the octogenarian couple, who took refuge with family members, were injured. Twenty-two firefighters intervened on the site and, according to the first elements of the gendarmerie investigation, the fire was due to a faulty heating system.
