The case against Gui Minhai and how he has been treated is really bad for all relations between the so-called free world and China, says Ulf Kristersson to the Morning Studio.

- These are fabricated things from beginning to end as far as we can judge and all normal international legal rules have been set aside, says Kristersson.

But after a lengthy detention, Gui Minhai must have pleaded guilty and denied the right to appeal the verdict.

- Everything indicates that they are forced confessions. From the beginning to the end, this is just a brutal example of the fact that there is no respect for basic principles of the rule of law and that Sweden cannot tolerate, says Kristersson.

Joint international action

Kristersson now wants to see that Sweden is seeking stronger support internationally if one is to achieve success because Sweden is a small and democratic country, the opposite of China. Something that Sweden should have done long before, says the party leader.

- It is the only opportunity to force China to reluctantly respect the fact that the free world has a different view, a different view, on human rights.

When asked whether Sweden has done enough, Kristersson states that he does not know. But the issue has been raised in Parliament and will be dealt with in March. The intention is to get to the bottom of what Sweden has done so far and what to do in the future, says the party leader.

- We do not bow to countries that are trying to commit legal abuse and silent Swedish citizens. We are right and they are wrong, so simple it is basically.
