At today's regional council, the budget was revised for 2020. Since SEK 294 million was added since the budget was clubbed last summer.

This is about a quarter of a billion added to the new cost equalization system, but also 12 million in tax revenue and 40 million in increased pharmaceutical subsidies.

- It is gratifying to have the new cost equalization realized that it is costly to provide healthcare in sparsely populated counties. This does not solve our entire challenge. The change we need to make remains in order for us to come in the right suit, said Peter Olofsson (S) in the pulpit.

How the new funds were to be distributed was divided opinion, but the proposals of the governing majority were clubbed. The Regional Board received an increased budget of SEK 153.1 million, of which SEK 40.3 million is allocated to the primary care framework.

Disagree with distribution

The opposition, however, did not agree on how the new funds were distributed and had submitted its own draft budget, but it was not voted on. Sadly, says opposition councilor Nicklas Sandström (M).

- We are re-prioritizing the Alliance to strengthen the transition so that we can enable a transition to close care, cut queues and targeted efforts to make staff happy and want to continue working in Region Västerbotten, Niklas Sandström (M)

Even the Swedish Democrats had made their own proposals on how the budget would be changed.
