He absolutely wanted to take his nine-month-old baby to a snack at his soccer club. This is the reason advanced this Monday by a father before the correctional court of Briey, in Meurthe-et-Moselle, to explain his driving without a license.

The facts go back to the beginning of February, as Le Républicain Lorrain relates. The young man of 29 years was driving towards his football club when he crossed the path of the gendarmes. They try to control it but the driver flees.

At the stand, the accused, already convicted of driving without a license, expressed his regret. The court sentenced him to nine months firm, with continued detention, said the regional daily. Which specifies that he will still be able to serve his sentence on day parole.
