The midwife who has been charged with negligence for bodily injury receives conditional sentence with daily fines of SEK 13,300, it was announced during Tuesday in Kristianstad District Court.
The district court considers that the midwife committed a serious misconduct in a situation where special attention and skill were required. The child who was born suffered as a result of the midwife's acting, serious injuries. Therefore, the district court considers that the midwife is guilty of causing bodily harm.
Admits she was wrongThe midwife has previously admitted that she did wrong during childbirth, but her lawyer Björn Hurtig has wanted to emphasize that it is not the same as admitting a crime.
It was at a birth in 2016 that a boy was born with a permanent brain injury at the birth in Kristianstad. The incident was investigated by Ivo, the Inspection for Care and Care, who assessed that the midwife had made serious errors during childbirth.
