Reda Hame, recruited and trained in Syria in 2015 by Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the coordinator of the November 13 attacks, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Tuesday in Paris by the special assize court.

This penalty is accompanied by a two-thirds security period. The national antiterrorism parquet had requested Monday the maximum punishment against this Parisian of 34 years, 20 years of criminal imprisonment with a period of security of two thirds. Reda Hame has been in pre-trial detention since her arrest in August 2015.

The prosecution had required 20 years' imprisonment

"I admit that I left (in Syria, note). I deeply regret it, ”said the accused, drawn, before the court withdrew to deliberate. "I would never have hurt anyone in my life," said Reda Hame, a 34-year-old Parisian with short hair and three-day beard.

He joined the Islamic State (IS) group in June 2015 in Syria. He stayed there for eight days. Abdelhamid Abaaoud trained him in the Kalashnikov for three days, then accompanied him to the Turkish border by giving him 2,000 euros and 500 dollars in cash and a mission: to carry out an attack in Europe. Reda Hame was arrested in August 2015.

The national antiterrorism prosecutor's office had demanded Monday against him the maximum penalty incurred, 20 years of criminal imprisonment with a two-thirds security period. Reda Hame "joined Syria at the time when the most relentless, those who are going to hit Europe, France, are leaving," said the prosecutor. She behaved, she said, "like a soldier" who "follows the instructions".
