Last year, the City of Malmö made about 3,000 checks on restaurants, street kitchens, bakeries and grocery stores. About one in ten places had deficiencies of varying degrees.

Some places were found to have worse deficiencies than others. It is about everything from deficiencies in hygiene, knowledge about allergens and problems with pests.

Some examples

Here are some examples, taken from various control reports from 2019:

“Entrecote is on the food note, but there is no Entrecote in the business. Only composite beef with b la soy protein in. "

“The mill used in the production of falafel is located just outside the toilet and clothes are on top. There is no suitable storage for hygienic reasons. "

Rats in cages

In some rooms, the inspectors found live animals in the premises - both flies and rats:

“At the check-in, there were a lot of flies in the room. This is probably because the premises are poorly cleaned. ”

“Rat spilling on shelves, floors and disposable materials intended for food in the common basement storage room. Three live rats were also found in a cage trap. "

Risk of food poisoning

In another example of a control report from last year, the food inspector says the deficiencies could have led to food poisoning:

“Staff took paper and wiped their hands or wiped their hands on their clothes without washing their hands before. Not washing your hands after, for example, taking in raw chicken and then working with other foods is serious. "

Rats in trap

The inspectors flagged in a report that salmonella certificates were missing when meat was imported from Denmark:

"You had received a consignment of over 600 kg of beef from Denmark despite the lack of trade documents and salmonella certificates"
