A group of teens saved a couple in their eighties from the flames Monday through Tuesday. According to the daily newspaper Sud Ouest , the trio of young people celebrating a birthday in the village hall of Villegats, in Charente, had "heroic behavior".

Around two in the morning, a fire broke out in the barn of a couple of octogenarians and the flames quickly spread to the main house. Without waiting for the arrival of the firefighters, three teens gathered not far from the retirement residence entered the house in the heat of the flames and managed to save the octogenarian and her paralyzed husband, who, according to South West , was at upstairs.

Twenty-two firefighters went to the scene, preventing the fire from ravaging the entire pavilion. The three teens and the octogenarian couple were not poisoned by the smoke.
