According to the information, Mubarak should have been cared for in the intensive care unit following complications from the operation.

Hosni Mubarak ruled Egypt for 30 years until he was deposed following massive protests during what came to be called the Arab Spring, 2011.

The ex-president was jailed and sentenced to life imprisonment along with his security chief the following year. Among other things, he was convicted of ordering the killing of protesters.

But the verdict was appealed and after several lawsuits were dropped by a higher court in 2014, both were acquitted, Reuters reports.

The verdict was not well received by the people and thousands of protesters then gathered outside the courthouse to show their displeasure.
