An Italian man in Tenerife has been confirmed to be infected by the coronavirus and is hospitalized. According to the first tests, the man is infected but today a new test is to be done in Madrid, according to the Canary authorities. 1,000 people have now been quarantined at the hotel where the man should have lived, according to Spanish health authorities, El Espanol writes.

The hotel has at least two Swedes, says Tui Sweden's press contact Adam Györki.

- We have two Swedish guests staying at this hotel. However, we cannot confirm that they have been quarantined. What we do know is that the hotel is blocked off by police, ”says Adam Györki.

Györki says Tui is trying to reach the hotel to find out if it has been quarantined.

- It is a little difficult to call the hotel for obvious reasons, so we have sent a guide there to find out more, he says.

To NRK, Tui first states that there are a total of 15 Nordic guests at the hotel, but none of them are Norwegian. Later, the travel company announces that there are eight Nordic guests from Sweden, Denmark and Finland at the hotel.

Travel company Ving does not sell trips to the affected hotel, according to communications manager Fredrik Henriksson.
