Millions of plastic bags are used annually - now care is to lose weight

The huge amount of plastic that the region consumes each year is necessary to bring the health care system together. The market for renewable alternatives is small and the costs are higher. Exactly how much higher costs are involved, the region is not yet clear.

- Generally, the renewable plastic costs more and is because there are few manufacturers. At the same time, we must reduce our use of plastic and thus reduce costs, says Sofia Bennmarker, environmental strategist at Region Gävleborg.
