Iranian President Rouhani: US sanctions on Iran are terrorism

On the 23rd local time, Iranian President Rouhani exchanged views on the regional situation and US-Iranian relations while meeting with the visiting Austrian foreign minister. Rouhani said that U.S. sanctions, like new coronaviruses, caused more panic than their own capabilities, and hoped that the EU would resist U.S. illegal behavior. Rouhani emphasized that the Iranian Nuclear Association is not only Iran or Europe. It helps Iran to build new trust with the West and can promote regional and global peaceful development and security.

In addition, Rouhani believes that U.S. sanctions on Iranian food and drugs are acts of terrorism and Iran hopes that the EU can fulfill its humanitarian duties.

Regarding Iran's Holmuz peace initiative, Rouhani stated that its purpose is to establish peace and security in the region. The security of the Holmuz Strait is vital to the world's energy transportation routes. He stressed that the root cause of all disputes in the region comes from the United States' illegal interference in Middle East affairs. (Mainland reporter Li Jiannan)
