It is a multi-family house where you are now working with a fire with strong smoke development. The rescue service is in place with over 40 people working to extinguish the fire.
SOS received the alarm shortly after 4 pm on Sunday. Seven ambulances were sent to the scene initially, but by 18, four ambulances were still on the scene. No person has been taken to hospital.
The police are assisting the rescue service in evacuating people who are in the body of the house which is 85 x 25 meters in size and eight floors high. The property has eight gates.
- We have evacuated a stairwell, and will evacuate two more stairwells, says Hans Eriksson, management operator at the rescue center.
There are 16 units in place at the time of writing, and two more are on the way. More than 40 people from the rescue service work on site.
- Many smokers will go to work on site. It is very hot in the wind. We work with both smoke diving and extinguishing externally, ”says Eriksson.
The evacuees are taken to Ormkärrsskolan, but the rescue service works with the hope that all evacuees will be able to live in their apartments when the extinguishing work is done.
- The fire has not spread from the wind at this time, says Eriksson at 18.
