Amazon: Auschwitz museum calls for withdrawal of anti-Semitic books from sale

Amazon, the giant of e-commerce is again under fire from critics. The Auschwitz Memorial calls on billionaire Jeff Bezos to remove anti-Semitic works from his online platform.

Its author, Julius Streicher was tried in Nüremberg then condemned to death in 1946 for crime against humanity. And yet, this book is available for around ten euros in French, English, Spanish and German.
On Friday evening, the Auschwitz museum denounced in a tweet " Nazi hate propaganda and virulent anti-Semitism " for sale on Amazon. The problem is recurrent. The Auschwitz memorial had already asked the online retail giant to remove Christmas decorations with images of the concentration camps last December.
Hateful, virulently antisemitic Nazi propaganda is available for sale not only on @AmazonUK. Books by authors like Julius Streicher can be found also on @amazon & @AmazonDE.

Several books removed in recent months
But Amazon said in a statement to the New York Times that it makes a point of giving access to all books, including those that some may find objectionable.
In the past 18 months, Amazon has nevertheless removed several books by far-right authors, including those by David Duke, former leader of the Ku Klux Klan , and George Lincoln Rockwell, founder of the Nazi American party, murdered in 1967.
