The construction of Tesla's first car and battery plant in Europe was temporarily halted after loud protests from local environmental activists. The new plant involves the harvesting of a large amount of forest, which caused the environmental group Grüne Liga Brandenburg to lodge an appeal.

A German court has now granted the car manufacturer the right to continue cutting down forest and said the decision cannot be appealed, reports Reuters. According to the court, the local authorities did not violate any laws when they gave Tesla permission to build on the land.

Tesla and Elon Musk have previously promised to compensate for the felling by growing significantly more trees in the future than those harvested.
