In order for meteorological spring to be determined, seven days in a row with an average daily temperature of zero degrees are required. The arrival of spring is counted from the first day of the seven-day period.

This means that spring came to Örebro county on February 15.

SMHI has decided that no matter how hot it is, spring cannot come until just before February 15.

- It's a bit cold, because it's all about temperature. For example, the light is not taken into account, says Åsa Rasmussen, SVT's meteorologist.

Unusually early

It has been a mild winter with several heat records in January, but this is not the first time spring arrives as early as this year.

- But it's unusual. Spring usually happens in the middle of March, says Åsa Rasmussen.

What happens if it gets colder now - does spring disappear?

- No, it has become ours we are still there. Then we have to wait for the summer before we have a new season.

Will the mild weather last - or should you keep the winter jacket on the clothes hanger in the hall?

- Keep your winter jacket on! Temperatures appear to be around zero for the next ten days. There may also be snow, maybe no rain, but if you replace the warm jacket you may freeze, says Åsa Rasmussen.

Early spring signs at Hjälmaren

Already on January 19, Örebroder Caroline Widén found about ten wind blows on Sörön in Hjälmaren.

- I usually find some occasional wind blows at the end of the month between February and March if there is not much snow.

During the week she also found white sips in Ekeby-Almby outside Örebro.

- I always look for spring signs and usually find spring flowers early. However, these were far too early.
