It was in August last year that the incident occurred. The patient was in an ambulance on his way to one of the county's hospitals. Some form of spread of contagion should have occurred in the ambulance.

"We don't know if it was the patient who infected the staff or vice versa," says Frozkhan Jainul Abdeen, chief medical officer at Halland's hospital.

The patient developed an infection and died a month later. An investigation later showed that basic hygiene practices had not been followed. Measures have been developed focusing on education and communication in basic hygiene.

"We are reporting the incident to Lex Maria and continue to work on decisive measures," says Frozkhan Jainul Abdeen.
