The fresco in tribute to Steve has been vandalized - L. Venance / AFP

Eight months after the tragedy, they are preparing to pay him a new tribute. Friday, the relatives and friends of Steve Maia Caniço, this young dead man drowned in Loire on June 21 in Nantes, are organizing a rally in tribute this Friday evening. "Eight months later, the pain has not subsided and yet the flowers have wilted," they write. The meeting was given at the foot of the yellow crane, at 6 p.m.

The event takes place a few days after the large fresco made nearby, quai Wilson, was vandalized. Relatives of Steve should give more details on Friday but we already know that the restoration is organized. In a few days, more than 3,000 euros were collected on an online kitty.

Paint and varnish

According to the Nantes revolted collective, it will require a "significant amount of paint" as well as "sufficient varnish to protect the fresco from possible new attacks". The operation, which is due to start next week, is expected to take "several days".
