The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution referred a statement accusing religious preacher Waseem Youssef of promoting, through social media, ideas that could provoke sedition in society and racism to the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance.

The prosecution charged a felony in accordance with Articles (1), (24) and (41) of the Federal Law Decree of 2012 regarding combating information technology crimes, as amended by Federal Decree No. 2 of 2018 amending some provisions of the Anti-IT Crime Law.

The Public Prosecution Office ordered that the accused and the case papers be referred to the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance for punishment, according to the record and description.
