Elyes Fakhfakh presented his team within the limits of the time allowed by the Constitution. Thirty-two ministers, half independent, and a large place (seven positions) in Ennahdha, the first party in the Assembly and the first party represented on the government list.
After blowing hot and cold, the Islamist-inspired movement finally announced, after intense negotiations, that it will trust the new government in the name of the country's interest.
The royal ministries are attributed to personalities presented as independent. Elyes Fakhfakh, supported by the President of the Republic, therefore stood up to Ennahdha's orders and threats not to support him.
Within ten days, this government will have to obtain the vote of a majority of the deputies in an Assembly with the appearance of mosaic without majority party. According to projections, confidence could be granted.
In January, the candidate of Ennahdha had been rejected by the hemicycle, eight days after having presented his list.
This time, it will be the last chance vote for the deputies who, in the event of a refusal of confidence, could face dissolution. Indeed, if by March 15 confidence has not been granted, the Head of State will have the possibility of calling new legislative elections.
