According to the ERR portal, the ambassador of Russia to Estonia, Alexander Petrov, sent the corresponding letter to the Minister of the Interior Mart Helme.

“I appeal to you to bring to the attention of the employees of the Department of Police and Border Guard who were directly involved in the rescue operation, our deep gratitude for the shown skill and high professional actions in a situation where human life was at stake,” the message says.

Petrov emphasized that all five crew members of the ship delivered to Tallinn were provided with the necessary medical assistance, and the relevant services helped the sailors to issue exit documents that allowed them to return to St. Petersburg without hindrance.

The Russian ambassador called the incident an excellent example of mutual assistance, regardless of the flag of the ship and the nationalities of people in trouble.

Earlier media reported that a Russian fishing trawler sank in the territorial waters of Estonia. Team members were rescued.
