20 February 2020 The number of infections caused by influenza viruses continues to decrease while the number of serious cases rises: 118 people with serious complications, 24 the dead.

656,000 Italians were bedridden by the flu last week, for a total of approximately 5,632,000 cases from mid-October to today.

The estimates are updated by the epidemiological surveillance bulletin Influnet, edited by the Higher Institute of Health.

After reaching the peak between the end of January and the beginning of February, with 12.8 cases per thousand assisted, the level of incidence of seasonal flu in the week from 10 to 16 February was of medium intensity, with 11 cases per thousand assisted.

Lombardy, Marche, Abruzzo and Basilicata are the most affected regions.
