If he does not plan to beat a record length of visit, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, will indeed be present, this Saturday, at the opening of the Agricultural Show, said the Elysee on Wednesday. The Head of State will go there on the return from a European summit during which he will defend "a necessary revaluation" of the budget of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

No formal speech is planned, but Emmanuel Macron could start "discussions at the show" if an agreement was reached in Brussels, the results of the discussions on the European budget being closely followed by agricultural organizations, added the Elysium.

A “smaller” visit than last year

“There has been progress in fact compared to the European Commission proposal, first with the proposal of the Finnish Presidency and then the new proposals from Charles Michel. But from the president's point of view, it is not enough and negotiations will begin to improve things, "said the French presidency.

The visit of the Head of State will be "more reduced" than that of last year where Emmanuel Macron had spent more than 14 hours at the Salon de l'Agriculture. "The president does not place himself in the perspective of a record to beat," said the Elysee. "The idea is to go this year to meet those who have more marked concerns, given the news," according to the Elysee.
