"Insufficient remedies"

"I believe that there is a beginning of awareness but I also believe that the diagnosis of the President of the Republic is largely incomplete," said Valérie Pécresse on Europe 1. "So the remedies he offers are insufficient" she continues. "The threat is Islamism: when we believe that religious law is above the law of the Republic," she explains.

"The objective is not only separatism, but there is also an objective of taking power, it is political Islam", affirms the President of the Île-de-France region. "They do entrism on all floors, proselytism, in sports clubs, in schools, in prisons, in hospitals, in associations and tomorrow on the municipal lists", worries the elected official.

Fight against all aspects of Islamism

Valérie Pécresse therefore considers that it is necessary to fight against all aspects of Islamism and "not just a small part which would be the withdrawal of the community", reproaching Emmanuel Macron for leaving aside secularism. "He sweeps the issue of secularism with the back of his hand, I believe that it must be reaffirmed as a republican pillar in the fight against Islamism," she said.
