The Japanese authorities announced that about 500 passengers in the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" anchored in the port of Yokohama, where they are subjected to a quarantine after more than 540 people on board were infected with the emerging coronavirus, they started leaving today, Wednesday, after they were confirmed not to be infected with Corona virus, while China registered More than 74 thousand cases of the epidemic.

The Japanese Ministry of Health confirmed that medical examinations demonstrated that these passengers - who had started to descend - did not become infected and did not show any symptoms, and that during the past 14 days, there was no friction between them and those infected with the virus.

"I am happy, I want to go to rest," one of those passengers, a 77-year-old Japanese, told reporters when he got off the ship.

"It was comfortable ... I feel fine," he added, when asked about his stay on the ship, noting that he would take joint transportation to return to his home.

The cruise ship anchored in the Yokohama Port in the Tokyo suburb has been witnessing a steady increase in the number of people infected with the dangerous respiratory virus.

As of Tuesday, Diamond Princess, who had contracted the virus, numbered at least 542, which brought criticism to Japan for its method of imposing a quarantine on the ship.

And the cruise ship, which sailed on an Asian flight with 3711 people on board from 56 countries, quickly became a floating prison with feelings of infection and boredom caused by staying in small rooms, some without windows, in detention whose long hours are cut only for a short stroll on a bridge the ship.

According to the Japanese authorities, it will take three days for the safe passengers to leave the ship.

The spread of infection
The number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in China rose to 2004, while the number of confirmed infections exceeded 74,000.

South Korea registered 15 new cases of the new Corona virus today, Wednesday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease in the country to 46.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement that 13 of the new cases were found in Daegu and the surrounding North Gyeongsang Province.

South Korean President Moon Ji-in has called for strict infection control measures and every possible move to boost the economy, which he said was in an emergency due to the Coronavirus epidemic.
