  • According to a decision of the town hall, the AS Preux football club must move at the end of June from its historic Vigneau site to reach the Val de Chézine.
  • President Séverine Pétard refuses to do so and fears the “death” of the club in the event of departure elsewhere.
  • The town hall says it has always wanted to "accompany AS Preux" and does not understand the absence of dialogue from the president.

AS Preux football club in Saint-Herblain in great danger? It is the great fear of its president, Séverine Pétard. Friday evening, an information meeting was held at the Vigneau association hall. On social networks, messages of support are multiplying for this historic club which has a full-time employee and just over 200 licensees.

But what is really going on? “In 2014, Bertrand Affilé, the current mayor, had made a campaign promise: the rehabilitation of the football equipment at the Vigneau site [which is the property of the town hall], where AS Preux plays, says the president. February 2018, the town hall tells us that we must finally reach the Val de Chézine to share the facilities with the SHOC [Saint Herblain Olympic Club] and that the Vigneau site will be occupied by the rugby club [Rugby Saint-Herblain]… "

Compulsory move at the end of June

Moving to Val de Chézine, the president of AS Preux refuses. “The facilities there are too far from our current situation. For us, going elsewhere is the assured death of the club, which has been established for a long time in this district of Preux. One of the senior teams at the start of the 2018-2019 season had tried the experiment. "But the players didn't feel good there, it's not their neighborhood. The test is short. In the meantime, at the end of June, AS Preux will have no choice, we will have to leave. "Bertrand Affilé is making fun of our future," plague the president.

Joined on the phone, the town hall of Saint-Herblain wanted to give its version of the facts. “We have decided to reorganize outdoor sports, with two major football poles: that of Val de Chézine with SHOC and AS Preux and that of Orvasserie with UFSH (Union Fraternelle de Saint Herblain). And a site dedicated to rugby with the RUSH. We have always reminded the club that we can support AS Preux for its transfer to Val de Chézine. Shuttles have been offered by the town hall to transport the licensees to the site.

Political settling of scores?

At the town hall, we are surprised "not to have had any feedback from the president". "If people feel uprooted as they can say, it must be reported to city services. It's too easy to run away from discussions. There was never any question of letting the club die, but rather of accompanying it. It's time to worry about the future of his club five months before the move… ”

At the town hall, we are also surprised at the timing of this controversy. “Oddly, this affair comes out a month before the municipal elections. The president of AS Preux is on the list of Matthieu Annereau [one of the two other lists against the current mayor]. »A controversy against a backdrop of political accounts? "It has nothing to do with it," says Séverine Pétard. There is no link. "

This Tuesday evening, Jean-François Tallio, head of the Saint-Herblain en Commun list (the third list), wished to contribute to the debate. “The town hall must listen to this discomfort. A meeting must take place quickly with club leaders, parents and representatives of the town hall to offer a closer response. The Vigneau site must be privileged ”.
