  • The association Promenade des anges says it is "scandalized" by two decisions taken by the investigating judge responsible for investigating the investigation into the security system put in place on the evening of July 14, 2016 in Nice.
  • The magistrate notably refused him "access to a complete copy of the proceedings".

The victims' association Promenade des anges calls itself “indignant”. In a press release published on Monday on her Facebook page, she said she was "scandalized" by two decisions taken by the investigating judge responsible for investigating the security device put in place on the evening of July 14, 2016 in Nice , where an attack left 86 dead.

The association, which became a civil party in this part of the investigation, does not understand in particular why the magistrate, who took over from another judge, rejected "[her] request to access a full copy of the procedure "so that" the judicial information continues in a calm environment without risk of pressure ".

A decision all the more "scandalous" for Promenade des anges that "the judge authorized access to this same file in the city of Nice", expose its officials.

Links with the date of the municipal elections?

Another point of annoyance: the date of delivery of a report, scheduled for January and which has just been extended to June 2020. "The judge had ordered an expert mission to define whether the presence of concrete studs, present a few days earlier during Euro 2016, would have prevented the truck from entering the Promenade des Anglais, "recalls the association. "We question the existence of links between this extension and the date of the municipal elections," she points out.

Last July, the association's lawyer denounced “the very strong pressures” surrounding this investigation. Hearings under the status of witnesses assisted by the then prefect Adolphe Colrat, his chief of staff Xavier Lauch, now chief of staff of Emmanuel Macron, as well as the mayor Christian Estrosi and his first deputy were conducted.

On July 14, 2016, around 30,000 people were massed on the Promenade des Anglais when the attacker rushed into the crowd with a 19 t truck.
