It all started with a brawl at an address in Västerås in the spring of 2019. There, the whole story begins to be compared to the man in his 40s who is now suspected of trafficking in human beings and gross misconduct. The same man had been arrested twice in 2018 even when suspected of robbery, but the investigations were closed to him when there was insufficient evidence.

This time, the police began to look at him and could see, among other things, that the man traveled back and forth to Romania several times and brought different women back to Sweden.

In August 2019, the police seize the man again and this time they have enough evidence to prosecute. However, a lot of research is needed on human trafficking.

- Firstly, we have done a good job in the field with good documentation. It is also good if, as in this case, we have apartments where you have received sex buyers. The most important thing, however, is that those who have been exposed to human trafficking are included in the investigation and feel safe to tell. Many times they are very scared and very vulnerable, says Lars Svensson.
