“Unfortunately, the challenges and threats to border security are not decreasing from year to year ... Military activity on the other side of the border is increasing. At the same time, Belarus has never threatened anyone and is not going to threaten, both in the economic sphere and in the military sphere, ”BelTA quotes Lukashenko.

He noted that Minsk expects wider support and assistance of the European Union and Russia in strengthening security at the border.

“Improving border infrastructure is costing us, of course. We look forward to wider support and assistance. By the way, not only from the European Union - this is our common border with the Russian Federation, ”he said.

Lukashenko also approved the decision to protect the state border by border authorities in 2020.

Earlier, the USA handed over equipment to the Belarusian border guards to protect the border with Ukraine in the Polessky State Radiation and Ecological Reserve.
