The question is basically about the job or the climate. Should the environmental car regulations only be about climate, or should they also be adapted to the Swedish car industry and Volvo?

Yes, says the Social Democrats.

- It is good that many Volvo models get the environmental bonus, and that many Swedes choose Volvo's charging hybrids instead of cars that are not charging hybrids, says Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (S).

Can't argue

However, the SVT's survey shows that the Social Democrats have other parties in the January agreement against them.

- There is no need for special business policy considerations for Volvo or others. The important thing is to have a predictable system that is sharpened over time, says Richard Nordin (C), environmental policy spokesperson.

Last fall, the government eased emissions requirements for climate cars and thereby saved the bonuses for Volvo's large charging hybrids.

The bonus system has been criticized for giving bonuses and other tax benefits to large, heavy cars that draw a lot when driving on gasoline. And now it should be redone, according to the January agreement. The Social Democrats want jobs in the Swedish automotive industry to play a role in the climate rules, but they only get support from two parties that you do not usually cooperate with: the Christian Democrats and the Swedish Democrats.

"Good to be at the forefront"

- I think it's good to take into account jobs and growth. This is not something we are facing, says Martin Kinnunen (SD), environmental policy spokesperson.

Climate Minister Isabella Lövin (MP) participated in the decision, which saved benefits for heavy Volvo SUVs. But the Environmental Party is totally against taking business policy into account, she says.

- We think it is good for the industry to be at the forefront, and the Swedish car industry has not done so in recent years, she says.
