In the leadership of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Moscow, personnel shifts took place. Major General Sergei Plakhikh, chief of the metropolitan police, resigned. This was announced by the head of the press service of the Moscow Central Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Vasenin.

"The deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow - the chief of police, Major General of Police Sergei Plakhikh, filed a report on dismissal on the length of service, which gives the right to receive a pension," the press service of the department said.

According to a RT source in the Moscow Interior Ministry, the report was filed “for family reasons” three weeks ago. Meanwhile, the Kommersant newspaper reports another reason for what happened. According to the source’s version, Sergei Plakhikh was previously offered a position in the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but he refused to take it for various reasons. Presumably, we are talking about a post in the forensic center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is now led by Lieutenant General Alexei Shishko.

According to RBC source in law enforcement agencies, after Plakhih left, the vacant post may be taken by the head of the Department of Internal Affairs in the Central Administrative District of Moscow, Major General Igor Zinoviev.

In addition, the publication reports that the candidate for the post of head of the Department of Internal Affairs in the Western administrative district of Moscow is also known - this is Major General Anatoly Feshchuk, who is currently the head of the police department for the North-Western administrative district.

Recall that the former head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the CJSC Andrey Puchkov was removed from his post in June 2019 after the closure of the criminal case against journalist Ivan Golunov. According to investigators, they planted drugs on a journalist. They were charged under three articles: “Abuse of authority”, “Falsification of the results of operational investigative activities” and “Illicit drug trafficking”.

In 1985, Sergey Plakhikh began his service in the internal affairs bodies from the post of detective officer of the department for combating the theft of socialist property of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Leninsky District of the city of Frunze of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz SSR.
