China launches possible coronavirus medicine

In the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, they launched the first drug that could potentially be effective in fighting a new type of coronavirus.



This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a statement by the government of Taizhou on WeChat social network.

It is noted that on February 15, the Fawailaway drug (formerly Favipiravir or Fapilaway), developed by Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceutical, "officially received the approval of the State Food and Drug Administration to enter the market."

The government notes that "this is the first drug in the country that received official approval for the inclusion of drugs that could potentially be effective in treating a new type of coronavirus during a new type of coronavirus outbreak."

According to the latest data in China, 1,665 people died from the effects of infection with a new type of coronavirus.
