Christophe Castaner, here in February 2020 - NICOLAS MESSYASZ / SIPA

The Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, announced Sunday to seize justice for “provocation to hatred” after the diffusion on Twitter of messages of an ex-elected LREM concerning in particular Rachida Dati and Samia Ghali.

Getting used to this kind of slippage, remaining impassive in the face of such disgusting remarks, is to gain hatred and push back the Republic.
I report these publications to the public prosecutor for provoking hatred, under article 40 of criminal procedure. https://t.co/IaweM8tul3

It calls into question several messages from the municipal councilor of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines), ex-LREM, Agnès Cerighelli, against the LR candidate for mayor of Paris Rachida Dati and the PS candidate in Marseille, Samia Ghali . The municipal councilor is regularly questioned for remarks qualified as homophobic or Islamophobic.

The elected official appeared in court in Versailles on January 20 for tweets posted in March 2019 attacking the "LGBT lobby". The court is expected to issue its decision on Monday in this case. During the trial, the prosecution required six months suspended and 140 hours of community service against him. The lawyer of the elected representative pleaded for release.
