A man caught a Polish policeman during his arrest by biting away a portion of the policeman's little finger.

In statements to the German news agency (dpa), a police spokeswoman in the city of Bozen said today, Sunday, that the injured policeman had left the hospital for the time being, and that the man had bitten a piece "1.5 centimeters in length from the smaller finger in the right hand."

The police refused to say if the finger could be reshaped again.

The man was driving a car and drew the attention of the police after he failed to stop at a traffic light, and set off the car, and the spokeswoman stated that the man, who was a former ex, had acted aggressively during his arrest and biting off a piece of the policeman's finger.

According to preliminary evidence, the man had used drugs before the crime.
